CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) – Chula Vista police are warning the public to expect heavy traffic on southbound Interstate 805 starting Friday afternoon due to a concert in the area.

Due to the Depeche Mode concert at the Mattress Firm Amphitheatre, police said traffic will likely be an issue on south I-805 at Main Street due to both concert traffic and the afternoon/evening commute.

Traffic is also expected to be heavy on Main Street from I-805 to the venue on 2050 Entertainment Circle.

Police suggest these alternative routes to get to the concert:

-- SR-125 toll road to Otay Mesa Road

-- Southbound I-5 to eastbound SR-905 to northbound I-805 and exit Main Street

Traffic is expected to form around 4 p.m. and last until 1 a.m.

Police have this reminder for those attending the concert:

Your safety and security are most important to us. If attending the show, be prepared for inspection as you enter the facility including physical pat downs, metal detectors and bag searches. Please arrive early and allow ample time to enter. Take advantage of the venue's express entry lanes, such as "Fast Lane" (skip the line program requiring all fast lane ticket) and "No Bags Express Lane" (no bags or purses to inspect), and carry only those allowed items that are necessary.
