Alvaro Morata may eventually look back on his goal against Manchester United last Sunday as one of the most crucial of his career.

Prior to nodding past David de Gea at Stamford Bridge, the Spaniard had gone more than a month without finding the back of the net in any competition.

A six-match drought is enough to raise concerns about any striker, not least one who cost the reigning Premier League champions a club-record £70 million.

But after scoring seven goals in his opening eight appearances for Chelsea, Morata was always likely to come good sooner or later.

It should be noted the 25-year-old has been nursing a hamstring injury he picked up against Manchester City in early October.

Chelsea fans were relieved to see Morata play a full 90 minutes last weekend for the first time since and will be hoping his winner sparks another streak of goalscoring form.

With Eden Hazard, Cesc Fabregas, Willian and Pedro for company, the ex-Real Madrid star should have no trouble getting proper service.

However, when asked which former teammate he would most like to join him in the capital, Morata snubbed Cristiano Ronaldo in favour of a man he considers the “most important” player at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Chelsea Training Session

"I would take [Isco] to Chelsea now when I return [from the Spanish camp]," Morata told Spanish radio network Cadena Ser, per IB Times UK.

"But I think that right now he has one of the most important roles at Madrid. In the national team he is also key. I think he is unstoppable when he feels important. The whole world has seen it since he took the reins at Madrid.

"He is the most important player at Real Madrid and in the national team. He changes the games, he makes the difference. He dances with the ball. Furthermore, he is my friend."

Whether Isco is truly the most valuable individual at Madrid is up for debate, though his statistics certainly provide a clear indication of his influence.

In addition to bagging five in eight World Cup qualifiers, the La Roja playmaker has scored or assisted seven goals in 11 La Liga outings to date.

Not bad figures for a player who was almost moved on by Zinedine Zidane in the summer transfer window.

Unfortunately for Morata, Isco won’t offering his creativity to another club anytime soon having penned a long-term contract extension with a €700 million release clause in September.
