Women's March demonstrators in New York City who were protesting near Trump Tower have been arrested.

The NYPD confirmed that 13 people were arrested on Wednesday afternoon, shortly after protesters made their way to the hotel.

According to reports, about 1,000 people — many who were women dressed in red — congregated on Fifth Avenue outside >Donald Trump

's Manhattan residence to demonstrate International Women's Day.

At around 1:30 p.m. EST, the official account for the Women's March, the organization behind Wednesday's Day Without A Woman strike, posted that demonstrators were "blocking traffic as a form of civil disobedience."

The protesters had planned on forming a wall around the hotel, but were arrested shortly after gathering in Columbus Circle. Many of the effort's national organizers were among those arrested.

The account then shared photos of at least 10 women who were in custody, tweeting:

A rep for the organization said in a statement:

"Today, the national leaders of the Women's March on Washington gathered with allies and those participating in the day's actions for a show of solidarity and revolutionary love. After a peaceful protest in New York City in honor of A Day Without a Woman, 10 organizers were arrested by the New York City Police Department in an act of civil disobedience."

So frustrating! But its gonna take a lot more than a few handcuffs to deter these fearless women on a mission for equality.

The account called on demonstrators to protest the arrest outside Manhattan's 7th Precinct "to show solidarity with our sisters," writing:

UPDATE: Meet us at 7th precinct (19 1/2 Pitt St) in Manhattan to show solidarity with our sisters who were arrested today. #DayWithoutAWoman
